About Us

Rev. Gerald McGaha and his family started the First United Pentecostal Church of Hurst in 1977. The very first service had a total of 4 attendants, the Reverend, his wife Barbara, and their two sons, Bruce and Scott.
For nearly 30 years, Pastor McGaha has taught the same biblical principles and values that he was taught growing up in a minister’s home. Knowing that the word of God is infallible, he has tried to instill these core beliefs into the members of this congregation. Love, compassion, understanding, and acceptance—these are but a few of the Christian principles taught by Rev. McGaha. It is both his and the church’s desire to reflect these principles in the daily life. It is for this reason that Pastor McGaha and the members of the First United Pentecostal Church of Hurst have adopted for their motto, “Where the word of God becomes a way of life."
Land was purchased in 1978 and construction of a new church sanctuary was begun. Fifteen people comprised the entire congregation, but hopes were high. It took two years to complete the first facility, due to the fact that much of the work was done by the first congregation. Since that time, God has blessed the congregation with a 20,000 square foot facility sitting on 4.8 acres that adjoins Airport Freeway. The facility includes a sanctuary with a seating capacity of 460 occupants and many classrooms for Sunday School along with a fellowship hall for food and special events.
The First United Pentecostal Church is a mission minded church. They now support nearly 100 missionaries throught the world on a monthly basis. While never loosing sight of the mission field in Northeast Tarrant County. s in town. Truly, the members of this congreataion have come to realize that “The word of God is a way of life.”
